It’s a three-step process.

First: see what this is and why you might want to use it.

Second: read the terms of service.

Third: choose a username and password. You’ll be taken to your first workboard, where you can get started right away.

Step 1. What’s going on here?

The workboard concept

A workboard is a way to visualize work, whether for a project or for your daily stream of activities. Rather than work from to-do lists, your e-mail, or memory, a workboard is a place to quickly add and organize tasks into little cards:

These cards go into columns on your workboard. Columns tell the story of how work moves through the workboard:

A kanban board style workboard.

Depending on how you design a workboard, it could track an order as it is processed and shipped, tasks that need to happen in order to put on an event, or any other activities that are important to you.

This is not a new idea. If you've seen people use or discuss kanban boards, information radiators, or canvases—whether on paper or electronically—you've seen a workboard. And if you haven't, we're here to help you get started.

About this service

Workboards is a web-based product designed to help you organize work, visualize its progress, and share it with your colleagues. You can access it from anywhere, including from an iPad or tablet.

Who makes it?

Workboards is made by Koné Consulting. We needed a tool to use internally to track projects across our distributed team and with clients—so we made one.

Over the past year, it's become indispensable to us, and we're happy to share it with you.

We train on work visualization and help our clients design systems to create flow and increase customer value. This product is an expression of what we've seen and learned.

Why give it a shot?

Consider trying out Workboards if…

  • you'd like a single view of a project's current state;
  • work keeps getting "stuck" or slipping between the cracks (and you'd like to figure out why);
  • everyone is not in the same physical space and it's hard to tell what's going on;
  • other online collaboration tools have been too fiddly, complex, or time-consuming; or
  • you have too much to remember, too many commitments to honor, and too many requests to keep track of.

Plans and pricing

We currently offer two plans: free and patron. When you create an account, you will be enrolled in the free plan. You may become a patron at any time.

Free plan

For free, you can use three workboards. You can also invite up to four other people to collaborate on your workboard.

Patrons

For $3 a month, become a patron. Patrons can have multiple workboards and invite up to ten collaborators.

Patrons are also invited to participate in other aspects of Workboards. We want to share what we've learned about how to manage, visualize, and improve work. We also want to hear from patrons about changes or improvements they'd like to see in the product. To that end, patrons get…

  • invited to our Slack team chat (the place to compare notes with other patrons and get direct access to the people developing the product), and
  • invited to our regular Google Hangout office hours.

“But I need to invite more people!”

Not a problem. Please contact us and we can arrange it.
